The Dish has Different Names in Different Regions in Germany and the netherlands.The only difference you find besides the name is variation in the Cheese(Gouda in France,Edamer in Holland,Munster in Munsterland etc.)The Bread for the original is always a Dark Bread like Farmers Bread or Vollkorn Bread.The original Strammer Max is a slice of bread fried in butter and covered with ham and fried egg. The ham may also be pan-fried; it is also possible to replace the ham with a slice of roast beef, in which case the dish is sometimes called Strammer Otto.
