What was the name of German division at Stalingrad ?

that was defending " the nose " of " der kessel " ?

What was the name of German division at Stalingrad ?
If "the nose" means the "Marinovka Nose” within "the Cauldron" ...

The German division in your question might be either: -

[a] 29th Motorized Infantry division (nicknamed the "Falcon Division" on account of its emblem); or,

[b] 376th Infantry division; or,

[c] elements of 3rd Motorized Infantry division.

All three divisions were involved in defending the Marinovka Nose sector of the Cauldron once 6th Army was encircled.

All three were effectively eliminated by mid-January, 1943; but some reports show that 3rd and 29th Motorized were still resisting very strongly as late as January 12th.
Reply:the German 6th army

Reply:I believe that in Stalingrad the German Sixth Army (South), German Fourth Penzer and 9th Anti-Aircraft division were involved. But you can find more information on German military units and divisions at

Hope it helps:-)
