What is a good name for a German shepard?

he is 4 months but we'd like a name that will fit him his whole life. maybe one that can be shortened into a nickname. he is mainly tan but w/ black markings.

Reply:They really aren't fully German, and never were shepherds. The true name of the breed is Alsatian (from the German part of Alsace/Lorraine on the French border), and they were bred to be guard and police dogs. Somehow, military names always do well:


Major, Trooper, Bullet, Sarge, are some I've seen.


Non-military? Fritz, Caesar, or any of a line of personal names.





Raise him well--they can be very playful and good with kids, despite their size.

Reply:I've had German shepherds all my life, male names have been Fritz and T.G. (we got him on thanksgiving)... I think if I got another male today, I would look at Cooper, Max, Rex, Buddy, or Scout. Have fun!
